|The Debrecen Folk Ensemble - Thanks!!!
Last Friday, June 3, the Debrecen Folk Ensemble presented an authentic and energetic performance at AIFD, including dances from Hajdusag, their local region in Hungary, and also from Szilagysag, a Hungarian region in Transylvania. They then taught some of their dances, using the typical style of a big circle in which everyone follows what the teacher in the middle is doing, who gradually increases the difficulty and ends by using the steps and patterns in couple dances. The Debrecen group was very impressed and quite touched by our group's interest in folk cultures, as they are passionate about preserving and presenting their own dances. - Franklin Houston.|
