Meet Nelda Drury

One of the great things about the San Antonio Folk Dance Festival (SAFDF) is the opportunity to visit with Nelda Drury.

Nelda has been an inspiration to folk dancing and the performing arts around the world.

Nelda started dancing in the late 1940s. In 1956 she travelled with Michael and Marianne Herman on a State Department Sponsored trip to Japan. Since then she has conducted workshops around the US, Mexico, Europe and Asia.

Nelda's passion for dancing is unrivaled and she continues to inspire everyone she meets.

Nelda founded and has been the driving force and inspiration for the San Antonio Folk Dance Festival since its inception 55 years ago.

Spacial thanks to phantomranch.net, which is where you can find a full bio of Nelda and her amazing contribution to dancing.

Link of the week:Santa Rita (one of my most favorite Mexican dances).
