This Friday at dancing

 | | December Birthday / Anniversary Celebration!!

  Do you have a December birthday or anniversary? Do you know a fellow folk dancer who does? Come to folk dancing to be serenaded and enjoy some delicious cake! This lively event will be DJ'd by Holly Plotner. Holly will be assisted by Kathleen McDonagh. Holly's program will feature dances from Texas Camp.

 Teaching: Come and enjoy one more "Fall Into Scandi" newcomers' session by Stephanie Anderson, featuring the conclusion of Rorospols.

$5 at the door 17 & older. 16 & under free

Next Week - December 18th: Julfest!!
 Join AIFD for a wintry Scandinavian celebration of the holidays! For this special event we will have extended hours: 7pm to 10:45. Get ready to twirl, spin and hop to elegant dances from our Fall Into Scandi teaching. We’ll also feature a jolly suite of international favorites to keep your feet warm. Live music will be provided by Austin Scandi, Women Singing, Tre Jenter, and the Texas Camp Band! Please feel free to bring some food to share at our smorgasbord table. This will be AIFD's final event for 2015 as HRC will be closed on December 25th and January 1st.

December 25th or January 1st:
AIFD will not meet at Hancock Rec Center on December 25th or January 1st. However, please join us at Michel Breger's house on New Year's Day from 4-8pm to inaugurate his new wooden   floor. Live music will be provided by the lively and talented La Strada. Michel's traditional lentil soup (both vegetarian and non-vegetarian) will be provided. You are invited to bring some finger food or just yourself. More details, including a map, will follow.

Sunday, December 20th: Wassail Austin.
 Please join us our 13th Solstice Christmas celebration. Expect a
feast of seasonal entertainment from our troupe of intrepid actors, magicians, dancers, musicians and poets. The big show happens at 5:30 pm, with a 40 minute kids show at 2:30 pm. Scottish Rite Theater. For full details, including how to purchase tickets, check out the Wassail 2015 Facebook page or the event page. This year's event will benefit the kids in the Darfur region of the
Sudan - via the Kids for Kids charity.

 Folk Dance Brunswick, Brunswick, Maine. Our own John Scales ventured to the northeast in October and attended a Friday dance session with this group. He calls it a "friendly folkdance group in the northeast corner of the country".
