This week at dancing
An evening of live music with the Home Grown Contra Band!!!

Home Grown Contra Band Enjoy a lively evening of dancing with live music provided by the Home Grown Contra Band. They will perform two sets of dance music from around the world each set containing a contra.

Look and listen for Anne Alexander's new booming tupan along with her exotic hurdy gurdy; Franklin Houston's refurbished accordion and his wild and crazy trumpet; Joane Rylander's mad mandolin; Holly Plotner's fabulous fiddle and Dena Houston's throbbing guitar.

Madeline Misi Madeline Brock will DJ that evening, assisted by Misi Tsurikov - who will also ensure stellar sound quality.

Rikki NicholaeTeaching: Join us this week for a second helping of Chef (pronounced "Kef"), introduced last week by Rikki Nicolae. Rikki will review part one of this lively Transylvanian Roma dance.

German dancersCome dance, listen to great music, eat great food, drink beer, be with friends, make new friends... and see a performance by your very own AIFD! Yes, at 3 pm five couples will show German dances, including the authentic Zillertaler Landler. The Donnie Wavara Polka Band is playing all afternoon. Check or ask Michel Breger for directions or car pooling.

Bollywood Meets Borscht Belt
Sunday, May 19, 5-8pm: Join the Hindu and Jewish communities for a night of multi-cultural entertainment, food and fun! Enjoy a veggie/dairy Indian food dinner sponsored by area Indian restaurants followed Shalom Austinby Jewish dessert, along with traditional Hindu music and Jewish folk dancing. This event is a joint fund raiser and cultural exchange party to provide school supplies for disadvantaged kids in the Manor and AISD School Districts. for details and to purchase tickets.
