Holly PlotnerTeaching: This week, Holly Plotner will be teaching dances from the 2017 San Antonio Folk Dance Festival. This will be a great opportunity to review the dances you learned if you attended the festival and to learn some dances if you were unable to attend. Teaching begins at 7.

Friday, April 28, 7-9:45 pm.
The admission fee is $5 for those 18 and older.

There is no fee for those under 18,
but they must be supervised by a designated person 18 or older.
Hancock Rec Center (HRC)

AIFD is organized exclusively for educational purposes, including the promotion and teaching of traditional folk dance, music and crafts native to a variety of countries.

As many folks have heard, Austin Parks and Recreation (PARD) is developing a new system to better track usage of PARD facilities. The new process will be implemented in May. You can find details about the process here.

CakeBallot box Come to folk dancing to vote for the 2017-18 AIFD Board! We’ll also celebrate our fellow dancers who have a birthday or anniversary in May.

Friday, May 19: HRC closed. Potluck at Stephanie's House!!!
Stephanie Anderson Hancock Rec Center will be closed for maintenance. Join us instead at Stephanie Anderson's house for a potluck. Stephanie says: "My place isn’t huge, but people seem to be able to dance in small spaces, and if nothing else, it’ll be a wonderful opportunity to just hang out and talk! I also have a back porch and yard." More details forthcoming.

Balkan statesWomen Singing (Anne Alexander, Dee McCandless, Kathleen McDonagh, Holly Plotner, and Joane Rylander) will be performing at 1:15 and 2:30 PM at Central Market as part of the Texas Community Music Festival. Come say hi, enjoy the music, and perhaps even dance a little!
